Loving Hand Doulas
Professional childbirth support

Jennifer Langlois

I am a scientist (with a Master’s Degree in Wildlife Ecology), an athlete (mountain bike racing and ice hockey are my favorites) and right now I am a “Stay-at-Home Mom”– working at raising my two young children.

My interest in becoming a Doula is a direct result of my own childbirth experiences.  My first birth was a traumatic emergency c-section.  The doctors cared for my physical body but I received little nurturing care from the staff after the surgery.  I was also separated from my daughter for the first 30 hours of her life.  I believe now that having a Doula with us could have helped my husband and me to prevent this and could possibly have helped me to get the kind of care I so desperately needed.  My second birth was a much better experience - a successful VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) with the help of a Doula.

The power of birth experiences continues to fascinate me and my dedication to helping other mothers have good experiences continues to grow.  As a Doula I would like to help women have positive, emotionally (as well as physically) healthy birth experiences.  I completed my DONA training at Columbia Center Birth Place in Milwaukee in June of 2006 and hope to have my certification completed by the end of 2007.

Childbearing and birth is the beginning of an amazing journey – I wish you the best of luck for a healthy, happy, fulfilling experience.
